The Senior Programme Officer(Impact) position will work closely with the programme team as well support the MEL team(s) in the development of uniform impact assessment methodologies. While the Pakistan Capacity Strengthening team has initiated a rigorous exercise to collect, collate and analyse existing/available data sources to develop a holistic baseline, a dedicated role on the impact tracking and capacity building is required. The Senior Officer will support thematic project designs, implementation, data collection and reporting and work closely with BC programme partners in their programming. Knowledge management and reporting will also be crucial in influencing the donor community and cotton-related policies at local and national levels, amplifying Better Cotton's impact beyond direct interventions.
The position will be line managed by the Partnership and capacity Strengthening Manager at Pakistan.
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive baseline for impact measurement aligned with Better Cotton's 2030 strategy.
- Support in setting, refining and updating country-specific impact targets based on baseline data, local context, partner consultations and global objectives.
- Identify opportunities to standardise impact measurement and reporting processes.
- Monitor, track and analyse regular updates and achievements on targets set at a partner and country level and liaise with relevant local and global counterparts.
- Work with fundraising and impact teams on project design, budgeting and credit markets.
- Create and regularly update a directory of strategies/activities/interventions that can be adopted or tailored in local contexts to achieve the impact targets through consultations, research studies.
- Overlook the organisation of Research Groups and dissemination of success stories.
- Take ownership of BKN activities and consolidate findings at a quarterly level.
- Support thematic leads and programme partners in analysing impact of demo plots and other high-impact interventions conducted at a field level to create stronger link with outcomes.
- Write/draft policy notes/briefs to advocate Better Cotton’s position for multiple stakeholders and mass media.
- Work with country and global CS team on designing new material on impact design, monitoring and reporting for Moodle and other platforms
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and consultation sessions with program partners, knowledge and strategic partners and other stakeholders
- Provide technical support to field teams in designing, implementing and assessing impact-focused initiatives.
- Liaise with country and global impact teams on project design and implementation, fundraising and development, data collection, analysis and reporting
- Implement progress review and learning areas to support the quality programme delivery with structured coordination systems to work with programme partners.
- Provide required support in managing databases from programme partners according to the needs of the Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS) by ensuring the data is used for quality analysis.
- Provide required information to Assurance, Membership, Supply Chain, M&E and Traceability teams, so that the Better Cotton project database is up to date and contains accurate information.
- Support the analysis of agronomic, economic, and social indicator data, to ensure accurate referencing to regional contexts.
- Conduct assessment activities with the assurance team when required.
- Develop close liaison with Fundraising, Assurance, Membership, Supply Chain and Traceability teams to understand the programme's impact needs in Pakistan.
- Assist the global grants team in developing proposals for other funding opportunities.
- Provide support to the membership team in the country to arrange events.
Beyond these specific responsibilities, the Senior Programme Officer (Impact) is expected to collaborate on additional activities agreed with the Partnership and Capacity Building Manager - Pakistan and matrix manager (s) from Better Cotton global team.

Strong knowledge of sustainability sector and at least 2-3 impact areas (soil, women, livelihoods, climate change, crop protection), impact measurement, and local challenges/ opportunities in agriculture sector. |
Experience working with projects in rural settings. |
Experience and knowledge of using Excel/Power BI/Stata or other data analysis/visualization tools |
Experience of working with multi-sector i.e., government, public and private institutes. |
Understanding of Field dynamics of Pakistan, especially Sindh and Punjab |

Experience in monitoring and evaluation and/or auditing and/or capacity building |
Experience with working in cotton farming |
Experience with working in the agriculture sector of Punjab and Sindh province of Pakistan |

Working arrangements
The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based in Lahore - Pakistan. Better Cotton offers flexible working, with core hours being 10 am – 4 pm. The position might require travel domestically as well as internationally, if needed.
